AUDIOSLAVE: 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' Exclusive Downloads Now Available
May 20, 2005AUDIOSLAVE rocked Hollywood Blvd. and TV viewers across the nation this Wednesday (May 18) with a special outdoor performance broadcast on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live".
Los Angeles police, dressed in full riot gear, were on hand to control the crowd of over 10,000 fans. Although authorities wanted to stop the show after seven songs as audience members began breaking down barricades, the band argued with police and firefighters and calmed the crowd down so that they could play one more number, acording to Launch Radio Networks. In a statement, guitarist Tom Morello said, "It was great to shut down Hollywood Boulevard and play a free concert for our hometown fans. By the end of the night even several of the riot police had put down their batons and were rocking out."
Now you can get live recordings from the concert exclusively at the Connect music store — including tracks from the group's upcoming sophomore album, "Out Of Exile", in stores May 24.
AUDIOSLAVE's hard-rocking new track, "Your Time Has Come", is vastly different from "Be Yourself", the more melodic first single off "Out of Exile". Singer Chris Cornell told Launch that the record features a wide variety of material, including songs that none of the band's members would have thought about trying with their previous groups. "There's some simplicity, for example, three-chord songs that happened, that I know for a fact SOUNDGARDEN would not have done, and personally I wouldn't have done, and I know RAGE [AGAINST THE MACHINE] wouldn't have done. Not because it's three-chord songs, but just kinda something so simple, and so obvious, why would you bother making a song out of it in the year 2005?"
